About Me

Phillip Villaflor Fernandez was born in Cebu, Philippines. He is the second child of Architect Oscar Fernandez and Rowena Villaflor Fernandez. As a young child, he developed an interest in music and the arts. He started competing in inter-school art competitions when he was 8 years old, and received multiple awards for his artistry throughout his elementary and high school years. He was influenced by his father in film photography in the late 1980s.

Phil was also passionate about music. At the age of 14, he taught himself how to play the guitar, the piano, and the drums. Shortly after, he started a rock band. During his high school and college years, Phil was invited many times to be a guest artist for various social and civic events.

Phil received a B.S. degree in Architecture from the University of San Carlos. At the age of 25, he got married, and concentrated on being a husband and father. He migrated to California in the late 1990's.

Phil became very passionate about photography. Due to his architecture background and love for the arts, he developed a keen eye for balance and detail. His portfolio shows his multi-faceted approach to photography.





Phil has been shooting professionally for almost 4 years. He has worked on catalog photo shoots, acting/modelling development portfolio, covered events (weddings, red carpets, corporate events,etc.), musicians/artist media kits, family portraits, and also dabbled in shooting and editing video. Phil is also hired assists celebrity photographers as a lighting technician.


Phil is SELF TAUGHT. He is still passionate and eager to learn from veteran photographers in the industry.
